In 2011, Dr. Kirby began practicing Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation (VOM) and added this form of alternative therapy for our patients.
VOM is a therapy that locates areas of the pet’s nervous system that have fallen out of communication, and re-establishes neuronal communication thus induces healing.
VOM is has some similarities to chiropractic care, in that it uses a hand held device that is used in popular human chiropractic technique. Like chiropractic care, VOM provides the exact amount of force to the sub-luxated joint needed to reduce the sub-luxation. Unlike chiropractic care, VOM does this without having to induce a lot of motion, such as twisting and torsion.
VOM will help with following conditions:
- Acute and Non-Acute Lameness
- Progressive Lameness
- Hip Dysplasia like syndromes
- IV Disc Disease
- Progressive Myelopathies
- Wobbler’s Disease
- Disease of the Knee
- Esophageal Disease
- Increase or Decrease GI Mobility Disease
- Digestive Disorders
Results can be seen anywhere between instantly to a week. If you are interested in having your pet receive VOM please contact us for an appointment.
